How you can support someone living with MS.

Do you know someone in the North East of England with Multiple Sclerosis (MS)? It's estimated that over 100,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with MS, so it’s likely that you do. If so, please help us spread the word about the wonderful support available to people with MS and their carers—completely free of charge.

Visiting MSRRF Morpeth

We were invited to see and experience the recently updated facilities of the Multiple Sclerosis Research and Relief Fund (MSRRF) centre in Morpeth. The installation of a lift now makes the entire first floor accessible to service users, doubling the space and greatly increasing the centre’s capacity to support and improve the quality of life of people affected by MS.

Exercise and Mobility Support

A specially equipped gym provides differentiated levels of support, allowing a bespoke exercise programme suitable for everyone. Equipment includes toning chairs, vibro-gyms, and Motomed exercise bikes, helping wheelchair users, those with limited mobility, and others to stay active. Qualified instructors are always on hand to offer advice, run seated exercise classes, and help improve strength and mobility.

Arts, Crafts, and Community

MSRRF also provides arts and crafts activities, giving people an opportunity to socialise, exercise creativity, and improve motor skills and self-esteem. These activities help reduce isolation, foster friendships, and support emotional well-being.

Complementary Therapies

A wide range of complementary therapies are available free of charge for people with MS and their primary carers. Activities include Indian head massage, Pilates, yoga, and reflexology, which help reduce stress, improve emotional health, and have positive physical benefits.

Regional Support

Service users come from across the North East to use the Morpeth centre. MSRRF also runs several other centres and outreach groups throughout the region, ensuring support is accessible closer to home.

Growing to Meet the Need

Having operated at full capacity for several years, the expansion of MSRRF’s facilities means more people with MS can now access the support they need.

Please help spread the word and get support to those in our community who really need it!
