A new voluntary role for Richard

Richard Talbot-Jones Appointed Trustee of The Insurance Charities

In March, our Managing Director, Richard Talbot-Jones, was appointed as a Trustee of The Insurance Charities, our sector’s benevolent society. Established in the City of London in 1902 as The Insurance Clerks Orphanage, the charity provides help and support to those working in the insurance sector in the UK and Ireland.

About The Insurance Charities

The charity primarily offers financial support to members of the industry, or their families, who are affected by adverse events such as:

  • Redundancy

  • Illness

  • Injury or disability

  • Family breakdown

Richard had long been aware of The Insurance Charities, particularly through the Insurance Institute of Newcastle upon Tyne, which raises money annually for the charity. Having benefited from similar support from the Royal British Legion and his regimental association after leaving the Army, Richard was keen to give back to the industry he has worked in for over a decade.

Richard’s Role as Trustee

Richard brings experience, energy, and perspective to the board, helping existing trustees broaden the charity’s reach:

  • He sits on the Grants Committee, reviewing applications and ongoing support for those experiencing financial difficulties.

  • His experience as a practising broker and his North East base add practical insight into the needs of the sector.

Richard says:

“I am proud to serve my industry this way and am already enjoying the opportunity to support those unexpectedly in need.”
