Commercial Insurance Account Handler
Location: Gateshead
Contract: Full-time, 12 Months Fixed Term
The Role
Accurately gather material information from clients, assessing their demands & needs, ensuring a fair presentation of the risk is obtained.
Review and provide technical advice and opinion on clients’ and prospects’ insurance programmes.
Negotiate insurance premiums and cover with Insurers in line with client requirements.
Respond to client & insurer queries in a timely and accurate manner.
Check policy documents for accuracy prior to receipt by clients.
Process correspondence, mid-term adjustments, renewals, pre-renewal activity, quotations and computer input as applicable to the role.
Understand the client’s situation, opportunities and problems and design appropriate insurance solutions.
Ensure compliance with company procedures, customer service standards, and external compliance regulations (e.g., FCA).
Work in a stimulating environment with a productive, energetic, and supportive team.
The Person
Ideally 2+ years commercial insurance experience with an insurer, broker, loss adjuster, or claims management company. Candidates with experience in wider financial services will also be considered.
Demonstrable interest in the Third Sector, Technology Sector, or business start-up scene.
Initiative to develop new business leads in line with own interests.
Ability to grow and develop the role as the company grows.
Skills, attitude, and resilience required to work in a small team in a fast-paced environment.
Maintain quality and efficiency in line with agreed service standards and KPIs.
Confident IT skills and familiarity with Microsoft Packages; knowledge of insurance broking software (e.g., Acturis) is ideal.
Good academic background with strong grades at A-Level and/or GCSE (Maths and English).
Cert CII or Cert CILA desirable, but not essential.
The Benefits
Starting salary: £17,000–£18,000 depending on experience, with scope to increase as the business grows.
22 days holiday, plus bank holidays and birthday off.
