In a proud milestone, Talbot Jones Ltd has been awarded the Silver Award under the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS). This accolade highlights our continued dedication to supporting the UK Armed Forces community, including veterans, reservists, cadet forces, and their families.
Our Managing Director, Richard Talbot-Jones, and Operations Manager, Paul Duffy (both Veterans), recently attended the prestigious Silver Award reception in Durham—a moment of recognition and celebration for our ongoing efforts.
Our journey from Bronze to Silver
Having signed the Armed Forces Covenant in 2018, Talbot Jones Ltd was initially honoured with the Bronze ERS Award, acknowledging our foundational commitment to supporting the military community.
This Silver Award reflects a deepening of that commitment, as we strive to offer flexible working arrangements for reservists, participate in Armed Forces events, and actively promote military-friendly employment practices.
A personal connection to the forces
Our MD, Richard, shares a deeply personal connection to the Armed Forces:
"I'm from a forces family, growing up in Germany, England and Wales. Not knowing what else to do, I joined the Army after university and fairly soon after I left as a veteran and a pensioner! Now my kids are in cadets and I'm an instructor. For me, the Armed Forces have been an integral part of my life, even though I'm no longer actively involved with regular forces.
As a charity insurance specialist, it has been wonderful to engage with so many organisations that support veterans. As a recipient of support from my own regimental association, I know the huge difference these charities can make in people's lives."
