Talbot Jones Ltd at North East Social Enterprise Day 2025

At Talbot Jones, we are committed to the social enterprise sector. One of the ways we demonstrate that commitment is by sponsoring the North East Social Enterprise Day. In November 2025, the event was organised by one of our clients, Junction Point CIC, and held in the Common Room at Neville Hall in Newcastle. It is, by the way, a very interesting building in its own right - with a rather good café - and was the home of the North of England Institute of Mining and Mechanical Engineers from 1872.

Why Do We Sponsor These Events?

There are a number of reasons.

We have many clients who are social enterprises and not-for-profit organisations, and catching up with several of them at the event is always a bonus. A chance to chat less formally is a great way to get to know clients better. Lunch was provided by some of those clients at this year's event - and it was excellent.

Many of those who attend are in the early stages of setting up their enterprise. They are passionate people who know their own fields well, but they are often seeking guidance to ensure that they and their businesses are properly set up and protected. At Talbot Jones, we believe that businesses of whatever size deserve good advice, and we seek to serve our communities with excellence and integrity.

Our conversations at these events sometimes lead to opportunities to quote - but just as often, we are simply giving advice. Some people need a conversation to find out which insurances are legally required for their proposed venture, which might be contractual requirements, and which are prudent or useful to have. As long as they go away wiser, that is a win for us.

We will often be chatting with one of our clients when they wave over a friend to say, "these are the insurance people I told you about - they should be able to help you." It is genuinely flattering when that happens, because ultimately our clients are our best advertising.
